FUNCTION

A CPU is similar to a human brain, but its artificial and its in a computer. In the computer, CPU(central processing unit) is were all the logic is applied. The function of a CPU (central processing unit) is to perform operations to run your computer.  Everything that goes on in your PC at some point goes through your CPU. The CPU will have a heat sink and a fan.since the CPU works all the time, it gets heated so the heat-sink absorbs the heat and the fan cools it down. If we were not to have these 2 parts in the computer, the CPU (central processing unit) will burn or melt.

Some different brands for CPU are AMD, INTEL (these two are the major brands) and a  runner up brand is VIA which makes CPU's for smaller computers like net-books.
